Eton Properties Strengthens Sustainability Efforts Through Waste Segregation and Recycling
Eton Properties continues to advance its commitment to sustainability through strategic partnerships and internal initiatives. Notably, the company collaborates with the Quezon City Department of Sanitation and Cleanup Works (DSQC) via the BasuHero program, a collaborative effort designed to reduce landfill waste and promote eco-friendly practices within Quezon City.
The BasuHero program facilitates the collection of recyclable materials from businesses, barangays, and homeowner associations. These materials are then exchanged for funds, which are subsequently donated to designated charitable foundations.
Extending this successful model, Eton Properties has implemented a similar program at its Makati City head office. Designated collection bins encourage employees to segregate dry plastics and paper. Collected recyclables are then transported and stored at the Materials Recovery Facility in Eton Centris before being transferred to the DSQC. As an additional initiative, Eton Properties has installed "shoot your trash" bins throughout the 12-hectare Eton Centris, further engaging the public in proper waste disposal.
So far, Eton Properties has collected 9,448 kilos of recycled materials, equivalent to Php 32,697.
This partnership with the Quezon City Local Government Unit (LGU) underscores Eton Properties' dedication to responsible waste management. In 2022, funds generated through the BasuHero program directly supported the QC Kabahagi Center for Children with Disabilities, enabling their online therapy programs.
